2350 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, New York, NY, 10030Founded in 2016 by Tammeca Rochester, Harlem Cycle is Harlem’s first and only indoor cycling studio, built to prioritize community over competition. Rochester, a former mechanical engineer and corporate marketer, used her savings to open the studio to provide an accessible, affirming wellness space for her local community. Tammeca Rochester grew up in Atlanta and loved riding bikes as a child. Years later, while working as an engineer in New York, she sought a workout that would help her get back in shape and clear her mind. She fell in love with indoor cycling but noticed a severe lack of accessible, welcoming fitness options in her own Harlem community—an area disproportionately affected by high blood pressure and heart disease. She combined her corporate business skills with her passion for wellness to open the first studio on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard.
